Over three decades of strong performance alongside institutions that demand the best from technology.
The company was born in Brasília, initially developing systems for the management of document and archival collections and for enterprise search.
Development and deployment of the company’s first multilingual search system, used at GEIPOT, expanding our experience in information retrieval and research across large document collections.
New clients joined our journey, among them ABIN, SEBRAE and UniCEUB, most notably with the deployment of the Thesaurus system for library automation and collection management.
Donation of a library automation system to the University of Brasília — UnB, helping to solve the challenges faced by its Central Library — BCE related to the so-called “millennium bug”.
Establishment of a partnership with the Norwegian company FAST Search & Transfer, an international benchmark in enterprise search technologies, to commercialize its FAST Search technology in Brazil.
The partnership marked an important step forward in Via Appia’s specialization in high-performance search engines, information retrieval and the processing of large volumes of data.
The experience accumulated in searching, processing and analyzing large volumes of information was increasingly applied to the intelligence field, with projects aimed at combating money laundering, fraud and cybercrime, including initiatives related to the LAB-LD laboratories.
Following Microsoft’s acquisition of FAST Search & Transfer, completed in 2008, Via Appia expanded its technological relationship with Microsoft, building on the experience accumulated with enterprise search technologies.
During this period, the company established a technology partnership with Microsoft, notably providing development services for the SINAPSE project, in which Via Appia acted as a subcontractor to Microsoft, consolidating its work in advanced intelligence, search and information analysis solutions.
Development of the LOGOS Project, through an economic grant from FINEP, which gave rise to the technology and the concepts that would later evolve into CHRONUSWEB.
The project was an important milestone in Via Appia’s research, development and innovation in the processing, organization, retrieval and analysis of large volumes of information.
Faced with Microsoft’s change of strategy for the FAST technology and its incorporation into the SharePoint ecosystem, Via Appia sought a new technology that would allow it to continue its specialized work in the enterprise search market.
In this context, it established a partnership with the American company Vivisimo, specialized in technologies for searching, discovering and navigating large volumes of information, ensuring the continuity and the evolution of its work in this segment.
Following IBM’s acquisition of Vivisimo, completed the previous year, Via Appia became an IBM partner, continuing its trajectory in the enterprise search market and expanding its technological reach through the use of IBM Watson Explorer in search, analysis and intelligence solutions.
During this period, the company expanded its work on intelligence projects and took part in the technological consolidation of 43 LAB-LD laboratories, applying its experience in searching, organizing, integrating and analyzing large volumes of information.
Beginning of the rapprochement and cooperation with the NCFTA — National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance, an American organization that works together with companies, government agencies and institutions such as the FBI.
The period also marks progress in structuring Via Appia’s presence in the United States.

Through an economic grant project with FINEP, Via Appia developed SIABHI — Search in a Box Health Intelligence. The initiative gave rise to the embryo of what would later evolve into Heimdall Cognitive Analytics, expanding the company’s capabilities in search, analysis, information processing and intelligence applied to large volumes of data.
In the same period, a new cycle of technological evolution began with the development of SINAPSE V2. The new generation of the platform started to use IBM Watson Explorer as its search engine, incorporating enhancements, integrations and developments carried out by Via Appia itself to meet research, analysis and intelligence needs.
Consolidation of a new generation of the company’s intelligence solutions, with the continuous evolution of SINAPSE V2 and the maturing of the technologies that would give rise to Heimdall Cognitive Analytics.
During this period, processing, search, analysis and Artificial Intelligence capabilities were expanded, preparing the technological foundation for the next generation of platforms developed by Via Appia.
Start of the development of SINAPSE V3, representing a new generation of Via Appia’s intelligence platform and incorporating the evolution of the technologies developed by the company over the years.
In the same period, the development of CHRONUSWEB Heimdall Analytics began, a new platform that succeeds CHRONUSWEB and expands its capabilities for searching, organizing, processing and analyzing large volumes of information.
CHRONUSWEB Heimdall Analytics is also designed to be offered as SaaS — Software as a Service —, broadening the possibilities for deploying and delivering the platform to different client profiles.
The period also marks the beginning of negotiations with SEBRAE for the deployment of CHRONUSWEB Heimdall Analytics, as well as the expansion of Via Appia’s international strategic partnerships, including PENLINK and Ozono, strengthening its portfolio of intelligence, investigation and data analysis solutions.
SINAPSE V3 goes into production, using Heimdall Cognitive Analytics as its platform for searching, processing and analyzing information.
Going into production represents a new milestone in Via Appia’s technological evolution, with proprietary technology incorporated into the core of the solution and the consolidation of Heimdall Cognitive Analytics as a strategic platform for intelligence, investigation, search and large-scale data analysis applications.
